Soraya Verjee,

Soraya Verjee currently serves as the Chief Talent Officer of Collegiate Academies. She joined Collegiate in 2009, initially as a math teacher before transitioning into a talent capacity. Since then, she has helped grow the organization from a single school to a seven-site network. Year after year, Collegiate Academies high schools rank at the top in growth for open enrollment high schools in both New Orleans and Baton Rouge and have also earned the spot of #1 Best Place to Work in 2015 through New Orleans City Business. Over the past 10 years, Collegiate Academies has retained 100% of its School Leaders while increasing the diversity of its teaching staff well over 50%. Soraya is dedicated to proving that a school system can achieve remarkable student growth, a committed team reflective of its community, and excellence and longevity in the classroom, simultaneously and sustainably.

She completed her Bachelors of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California at Berkeley and began her career at The Bridgespan Group, a nonprofit strategy consulting firm. She moved to New Orleans in 2007 and later served as a Teach for America Corps Member at Collegiate Academies first high school. She continues to serve in New Orleans as a wife and mother.
